50 Cent has avoided the troubles with the law that made typified the lyrics of his early music, but the rapper was charged yesterday with attacking his ex-girlfriend and destroying her property. The charges filed by Los Angeles police include on count of domestic abuse and four counts of vandalism.
According to the police report, 50 showed up at the woman's (name not given for the story) on June 23. The woman told the police that he had been in a relationship with the rapper for nearly three years. The woman had an infant but it wasn't made clear if the child was associated with 50 in any way.
According to the woman, the rapper came into her house, kicked open her bedroom door and kicked her as well. He then went on a rampage apparently, as police found a broken chandelier, television and other furniture. Estimates to the value of the damage is nearly $7,000.
The rapper could face up to five years in prison and potentially $46,000 in fines. 50 has a long history of trouble with the law, although his record had been clean in recent years. Prior to finding fame in the music industry he had been arrested on drug dealing charges multiple times.He was charged with three counts of assault and battery when he jumped into the audience during a 2004 concert, and in 2003 he was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
50's new album "Street King Immortal" was release in June.
