It's only been a few weeks since Superman's "Man of Steel" was released in theaters, but talks are already underway for a "Man of Steel" sequel. "Man of Steel" has received mixed reviews from critics, but has to be considered a box office success after it being expected to gross over $650 million worldwide, according to Yahoo! Movies. Warner Bros. has already reportedly approved a sequel with the entire cast, including Superman himself Henry Cavill, who is on board for the reboot "Man of Steel 2." The question remains, will Lex Luthor show up as the main villain in the second film?
There are also already talks of a "Justice League" movie coming out. However, Cavill cautioned fans on the idea and said in a recent interview the film would have to be done carefully. "It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought," Cavill said to ABC News. So, it won't be right away. I hope it's not, anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.
Meanwhile, it looks like a "Man of Steel" sequel is being fast tracked. Entertainment Weekly notes that there are rumors the second film will be called "Man of Steel 2: Steel Harder" and people are pushing for a 2014 release. However, in an interview with Moviehole, director Zach Snyder sounded more cautious about the sequel. "So my hope is, when I get home I can sit down with everyone and it'll be like 'Okay, so what are we going to do?'" Snyder said.
Rumors have already started about the "Man of Steel 2" villain. It's widely believed that Lex Luthor will make his debut in the "Man of Steel" series in the second film. Of course casting rumors have begun and people are offering up names of who would make a good Lex Luthor. Screen Crush mentions the first casting rumor following "Man of Steel's" release. Actor Mark Strong's name apparently has been brought up. So do you think the British actor who has been in "The Green Lantern," "John Carter," and "Zero Dark Thirty" would make a good Lex Luthor?
