Jonas Brothers New Album 2013 [UPDATE]: Release Date Set for Fall: Miguel, Frank Ocean, Calvin Harris Among Influences for 'Pom Poms' Group's Fifth Studio Record

Jonas Brothers fans have been waiting for new news about the "Pom Poms" band's upcoming fifth studio album. Though the boys have been notably aloof regarding the new album 2013, a few new details, including the group's influences on the record have been revealed.

In an interview with Billboard, Kevin Jonas told the website that the he and his brothers have taken more modern influences on the untitled album. "In the past we used influences that inspired us - the Beatles, the Jackson 5, things like that. This time around, we used influences that were happening for us now, new music, things that were getting us inspired to get in the studio and write. We really listen to a lot of Frank Ocean, Miguel, Calvin Harris, artists that were doing something unique in the moment we were writing this album," he said. "It really adapted to the way we were thinking and where we were at."

The more modern sound can be hears on their new single "First Time," which shows an electronic influence, a la Harris, and writing that is more fully rounded and lyrically mature.

Kevin also disclosed that writing the new album took some time. In February 2009 the band got in the studio to begin working on the record, but things weren't clicking. "So, we took some time off. We were able to say, 'OK, this isn't right for us yet,' and that was fine," he said.

"First Time" is the song that finally made everything work for the brotherly trio.

Though no official release date has been announced for the album, Kevin assured that a fall date is in the works. During the #JBFirstTime chat, all three JoBros revealed they know the release date (and the album name), but they have yet to disclose when that will be.

The Jonas Brothers performed in Orlando on July 3 for Red, Hot and Boom, getting fans pumped for their upcoming North American tour. The 30-city trek will begin July 10 in Chicago.
