The 2013 Wimbledon women's finals featured two tennis players who aren't mainstream names. 28-year-old Marion Bartoli defeated 23-year-old Sabine Lisicki Saturday morning to win her first Grand Slam title in 47 appearances. Bartoli, a 15 seed, defeated Lisicki, the 23rd seed, 6-1 6-4 to win the women's Wimbledon championship. It was an emotional day for both women with Lisicki unable to hold back tears after losing in the finals.
Before this past weekend's finals matchup, both Bartoli and Lisicki were unknown players outside tennis circles. However, Lisicki has quickly gained plenty of attention for her looks. Whether you like it or not, it seems most people care more about a female tennis player's appearance rather than her on-court play. Bartoli may have won the title, but Lisicki seems to be getting a lot of the attention.
Lisicki, a German player, has been linked to fellow German professional athlete Dirk Nowitzki. There isn't much known about the two and whether or not they were ever actually dating other than Nowitzki being courtside and cheering Lisicki on at last year's Wimbledon.
Lisicki doesn't seem to like to reveal who she is dating, as there are very few reports or even rumors of Lisicki's romantic relationships. It does appear that some German tabloids believe Lisicki's current boyfriend is German swimmer Benjamin Starke.
As for Bartoli, she is doing just fine following her 2013 Wimbledon victory. According to SI.com, she will take home $2.4 million for winning the top prize, while Lisicki takes home $1.2 million. During her on-court interview, Bartoli said, "I dreamed about this moment for so long."
