In quite possibly the most Seattle thing to ever happen, grunge godfathers Mudhoney will be performing atop the Space Needle on July 11 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Sub Pop.

In a special performance scheduled for July 11, Mudhoney will be safely tethered on the top of the famous Seattle landmark playing the music that made the city famous in the early '90s. In fact, it was Mudhoney's lead singer, Mark Arm, who inadvertently gave a name to the genre, when he wrote a joke letter about one of his previous bands, Mr. Epp and the Calculations, to local music 'zine "Desperate Times," calling the band's music "Pure grunge!"
Mudhoney have confirmed the news on their Twitter.
