Even though the one million copies of Jay-Z's new album 2013 Magna Carta Holy Grail will not count toward the Billboard 200 chart, the record is still projected to debut at No. 1 next week.

According to Billboard, Magna Carta Holy Grail is projected to sell 350,000 to 400,000 records between today (July 9) and the end of the tracking week on July 14.

This would make Magna Carta Holy Grail one of the best selling R&B albums of the year right upon its release. As of last week, Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city sold 364,000 copies and Alicia Keys' Girl on Fire has moved 287,000 copies. Even if MCHG sold on the low end, Hova would still place ninth on the list of biggest selling rap albums.

Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lews have sold the most R&B records so far this year, according to Billboard.

The other major rap release this summer was Kanye West's Yeezus, which slightly underperformed by debuting with 327,000 albums sold following its June 18 official release. That album, however, was hurt by its leak the Friday before it was set to drop.

Billboard charts and Magna Carta Holy Grail made the news a few weeks ago, when Billboard editor-in-chief Bill Werde wrote an open letter saying that the Samsung pre-purchased copies would not count toward the publication's record count.

However, the RIAA, which registers albums as platinum reviewed their rules regarding bulk purchases. The one million copies given away to Samsung Galaxy users on July 4 could, in fact, count toward platinum status.
