Dropkick Murphys Raise Over $300,000 For Boston Marathon Bombing Victims

Boston-loving Oi! stalwarts Dropkick Murphys have raised a ridiculous amount of money for victims of the Boston marathon bombing. The "Shipping Up To Boston" punks raised $300,000 via their Claddagh Fund. 

The fund raised money via a "For Boston" campaign that included a concert at Boston's House of Blues, sales of a benefit EP that contained a version of their latest single "Rose Tattoo" with Bruce Springsteen, and "For Boston" t-shirts.

"Every single person we had the pleasure of meeting expressed a positive attitude and an incredible sense of perseverance as they work hard to return to the lives they enjoyed before the tragic day in April," Ken Casey, the founder of the band and the organization, told Billboard. "We were humbled by the kindness of our friends and fans who got behind this cause with so much heart and passion, it was truly an honor to be able to represent them and contribute, even if in a small way, to help these inspirational individuals."  

Sales of the EP through iTunes will still benefit the fund indefinitely. The money will be dispensed on a need basis to cover hospital bills, rehabilitation costs and other incidentals.
