Suraj Pancholi just got out of jail on bail under the charges that he abetted the suicide of ex-girlfriend and Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, but the actor isn't letting the media attention derail his career. Reports indicate that less than a week after he was released from a near monthlong stay in a Mumbai prison that he sought out Bollywood big shot Salman Khan, who had previously taken Pancholi under his wing.
The subject of their talks? Likely if Pancholi is still set to star in a remake of the 1983 classic "Hero," which will be produced by Khan along Subhash Ghai. Khan reportedly told Pancholi that he would be in charge of making announcements regarding the film, and that the 21 year old should keep his family from commenting as well. Khan seems to think that Pancholi's recent incarceration has brought unwanted attention to the project. Khan is currently working on the movie "Mental" in Hyderabad.
"During this meeting, Salman assured them of assistance. In fact, he has asked Suraj to start preparing for his Bollywood debut. Once the Mental schedule ends (on July15-16), he is likely to officially announce the 'Hero' remake," an insider told The Hindustan Times.
The controversy surrounding the death of Jiah has been swirling in India for the last month. The actress claimed in her suicide note that she was raped and abused, and although did not single out Pancholi, her mother has placed the blame on him. If he were guilty of those crimes, he would also be guilty of abetting her suicide. The most recent break in the case has been the indication in Jiah's forensics report that she had alcohol in her system at the time of her death.
