Zayn Malik Perrie Edwards Tattoo [PHOTOS]: One Direction Singer's Little Mix Girlfriend Thinks Tribute Ink is 'A Little Weird'

Last month, One Direction member Zayn Malik decided to get a new tattoo during a break from the North American leg of his band's "Take Me Home" tour. So he and band mate Louis Tomlinson went to a tattoo parlor where Malik walked out with new ink on his right upper arm that turned out to be of his girlfriend, Perrie Edwards. Clearly a big step for the young couple's relationship, the tattoo has resulted in criticism towards Malik's decision but we have yet to hear from his Little Mix beau. Luckily, she recently talked to MTV about her boyfriend's body art and what she says might surprise you.

"It is weird," she admitted to MTV News, "But it's nice that every time he's away from us, he just has to look and I'm there on his arm."

Even the subject of the tattoo thinks Zayn's gesture was a little strange! This is Perrie's first statement regarding the tattoo and according to the artist who inked Malik, she had no idea her boyfriend was planning the body art.

"He wanted to do like a punk rock- ish comic character," artist John James Garancheski III explained. "Like a girl that was kind of comic'd-up and had a little bit of a punk rock look to her. So we took a couple of images and put them together."

Though she thinks it's weird, the 19-year-old might be looking into a tattoo (or a few) for herself! According to her fellow Little Mix member, Jesy Nelson, Perrie might be getting inked soon.

"Both Perrie and [other Little Mix member Jade Thirwall] want tattoos but it's whether they pluck up the courage to do it," Nelson revealed. "I feel like they might chicken out."
