What do you get when the "Alive" singing trio Krewella collaborates with "Toulouse" DJ Nicky Romero? An electrifying new EDM track entitled "Legacy (Save My Life)."
While the single was officially released Monday, July 15th, through Romero's label Protocol Recordings, the collaboration "Legacy" first made its debut back in March at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, notes Dancing Astronaut.
With the success of Romero & Avicii's summer anthem "I Could Be the One" and the electro punk trio Krewella's latest single, "Live for the Night," quickly climbing the dance charts since it dropped last week, its no wonder ''Legacy'' is already #14 on the Beatport mainchart within the past 24 hours. Listen to the track below!
As HousePlanet.DJ notes, '"Legacy" is an unmistakable hybridization of big-room flair matched with bass-driven intensity that exemplifies what can happen when two of the hottest names in dance music come together."
According to Billboard, Dutch DJ Romero claims that "Legacy" started out solely instrumental and almost didn't have a vocal at all until Krewella finally stepped in. "I really wanted to do a vocal on this track... I had my team source many vocals, but I was at a point where I was going to give up," Nicky explained.
"Krewella told me they would like to have a go [at a vocal], and after a few tweaks, this was the result," Romero continued. "Everybody is very excited about it."
Krewella was also extremely excited to collaborate with Romero and leave their "legacy" on the track.
"The first time we heard the track, it had the perfect mix of what we love: dark and emotional melodies with the ability to make the listener still dance," sisters Yasmine and Jahan Yousaf of Krewella told Billboard. "The concept is supposed to be relative to anyone. It was the simplest way we could write a thank you song to that one person who was a hand in the dark for us."
The Chicago-based group Krewella came "alive" last year thanks to their hit single "Alive" which peaked at No. 32 on the Hot 100. A full-length debut album from the "Live for the Night" trio is expected to drop in September along with a bus tour in the fall.
The 24-year old Dutch DJ, Nicky Romero, has also had much success since first entering the EDM scene a few short years ago. He's released tracks on respected labels like Spinnin', Toolroom, Fly Eye and Flamingo records. In addition, he's working with "big shots" like David Guetta, Rihanna, Fedde le Grand, Avicii, and Calvin Harris. Nicky is also a resident at Pacha Ibiza, one of the best clubs in the world, and he headlined all major festivals last year.
