According to the Associated Press, British Columbia coroner says 'Glee' actor says Cory Monteith died of overdose of heroin and alcohol
The untimely death of the GLEE star happened over the weekend in his Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room. The 31-year-old was found dead after he missed his checkout time.
Monteith has had trouble with substance abuse and entered rehab in April 2013 and GLEE co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele stood by her man's side, "I love and support Cory and will stand by him. I am grateful and proud he made this decision," Lea told People.
According to RadarOnline, a source close to the star was with him hours before his death at the Portside bar in East Vancouver Friday night, "He wasn't drinking when we were with him," the source added that the celebrity wasn't on drugs or under the influence, "He seemed really happy and healthy when I saw him."
The close source continued, "[I'd be] extremely surprised [if it turned out he was on drugs that night]," the source says. "He wasn't super talkative or misty eyed. Just normal. Catching up, chatting, and then on his way. Everyone expected to be seeing him again shortly, so it wasn't a big night ... It was friends getting together chatting about things that have been going on in their lives."
Michele's rep had released a statement on her behalf saying, "We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time."
