Led Zeppelin Tour 2013/2014: Maybe Not, But John Bonham May Be Joining Son Onstage Soon

If you ask rock 'n' roll fans what band they would most like to see reunited, there's a decent shot that Led Zeppelin would be the top answer (maybe Pink Floyd). For now however, fans have to settle with Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience, a cover band in which Bonham, the son of Zeppelin drummer John Bonham plays drums. If Jason has his way however, John will soon be joining him onstage.

The problem of course is that John is dead, so what to do? Jason says he's been talking to experts in the concert business, and he's looking to play with a hologram version of his dad.

"It's important to me to have something in addition to the music, that was the whole point of it," Jason said. "When I first started doing this I was working with some of the people behind some of the biggest tribute tours like Pink Floyd Experience, the Beatles and now I'm doing it. It's imperative that I continue putting together the best shows and take it to the next level. I'm talking to people about holograms and my dream is to do the hologram drum solo with dad next to me."

This would be, potentially, the most rock 'n' roll thing ever. Hologram performances of deceased musicians have been the hot thing since Tupac Shakur appeared with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at the Coachella Music Festival in 2012. R&B artist Aaliyah appeared beside Chris Brown in a music video in 2013.

Even if Jason can get a hologram version of his dad onstage so the two can wail to iconic drum anthems like "Moby Dick," don't expect either Bonham to be joining the rest of the band's members for a reunion. The group played a show (featuring Jason on drums) in 2007, but the former members haven't been eager to tour following the death of John in 1980. One can hope however.
