Superman/Batman Movie: Zack Snyder Confirms 'Man of Steel' Sequel Will Feature Batman, Flash Movie 2016? Justice League Movie 2017?

Comic book fans received what can only be described as a very early Christmas present during San Diego Comic-Con 2013 over the weekend as Man of Steel director Zack Snyder confirmed reports that the Superman sequel will in fact be a Superman/Batman team-up film.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the news, and The Hollywood Reporter then followed up on Saturday with multiple sources confirming that Superman and Batman would appear together on film in 2015. The article stated that Warner Bros. was expected to make the announcement at its Hall H panel during Comic-Con.

The report stated that Snyder would direct, Henry Cavill would reprise his role as Clark Kent/Superman and David S. Goyer, who co-wrote Man of Steel, would write the script. The role of Bruce Wayne/Batman was unclear.

Furthermore, THR reported plans for a Flash movie in 2016 and the long-rumored Justice League movie in 2017.

IGN then reported that Snyder took the stage at Comic-Con and had Harry Lenmix, who played General Swanwick in Man of Steel, read a passage from Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns." The studio then unveiled the following logo to officially announce that the next Superman film would feature Batman:

Snyder later said the following after his surprise Comic-Con appearance:

"I'm so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can't wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world."
