Spanish actress Penelope Cruz on Monday gave birth to her second child with actor husband Javier Bardem. A representative confirmed that the 39-year-old Volver star gave birth at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid. Her first daughter with Bardem, the stars' baby girl shares a birthday with the future King of the United Kingdom born to Prince William and Kate Middleton. The comparisons between Penelope's and Kate's respective pregnancies could not have been more different in terms of media coverage, but both have healthy new additions to their own high-profile families now! The babies have another thing in common besides their birthday: neither have name yet.
In the Royal Family, it is not uncommon to have a long period of time pass before the name of the new baby is given. For instance, Prince William was unnamed for about a week after the late Princess Diana gave birth to him in 1982. Also, William's father Charles did not have a name for nearly a month after Queen Elizabeth II gave birth to him!
But why have Javier and Penelope not named their daughter yet? So far, just like her pregnancy, not a lot of information has been released to the media.
Cruz's new daughter is now the younger sister of her son with Javier, Leo, who is 2-years-old.
Javier and Penelope are both starring in the soon-to-be-released film The Counselor. In an interview earlier this year, Cruz talked a bit about her role in the film and why she signed on:
"I read the script, and after three pages I was completely blown away by how new this feels. It's Cormac McCarthy's first script. Not based on any book, its just a script. And it's an incredible piece for actors, all the characters are incredible. All the scenes are very long scenes, a lot of dialogue, scenes that have a beginning and a transition. You can travel with each scene, you have the space and the time to really go through a journey with each scene; and that, for actors, it's a big privilege to have scenes like that [...] Most my scenes are with Michael Fassbender and with Cameron Diaz. And I don't have any scenes with Javier [...] But for us it is better, we could do every movie like this, because then always one of us can be free. You know? We don't have to be working in the same day."
