Indie rock band Franz Ferdinand are going hard promoting their new album 2013 Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action before the record’s release on Aug. 27. After teasing their record announcement, releasing a video for “Right Action” and performing a live, streaming set at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, the “Take Me Out” band have released a music video for Right Thoughts’ supposed second single, “Love Illumination.”
The bizarre official music video opens with fuzzy screen warnings. Nightmare-esque visuals of the Scottish band dancing in a checkered room with various woodwind instruments, burlesque dancers in boob tassels and dancers in surreal yellow and desert surroundings all flash across the screen.
Cleary inspired by surreal and modern art, the video also shows drag queens in 3D lighting, a shrinking room, dozens of bodies writhing around on the floor, a horse costume and a band member's head is served up on a platter.
The video's various scenes barely seem to go together and flow, but that's likely the point of the bizarre clip.

The song itself is a driving rock track from Franz Ferdinand. Though it features less pop elements than most of the band's biggest hits, such as the massive 2004 hit "Take Me Out," it does include the FF essence of harder hitting songs. "Love Illumination" calls back to many of the singles from their last studio LP, 2009's Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, such as "What She Came For" and "No You Girls."
"Love Illumination" is the second single from the upcoming Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, due to hit shelves Aug. 27.
