Chris Brown: 'Fine China' Vocalist Receives Apology from Timbaland Over Aaliyah Collaboration Comments

Chris Brown is a celebrity that usually finds himself in a position where he's being asked to issue an apology, whether its his fights with a parking valet or his parking lot brawls with R&B artist Frank Ocean. On Friday however, Brown was on the receiving end of an apology from producer Timbaland. Tim wanted to let Brown know that he meant no harm when he badmouthed the performer's "collaboration" with deceased starlet Aaliyah.

"I want 2 publicly apologize 2 my lil homie @chrisbrown 4 my statements on revolt regarding the Aaliyah collaborations," Timbaland wrote over several tweets. "I actually like the song wit him n Aaliyah, its just when you are talking about babygirl its a very sensitive subject with me. So the people who not only worked with her but grew a bond so tight we are like family so im very over protective over her."

The producer had told Revolt TV video earlier in the week where he claimed that songs featuring artists like Brown and Drake performing along unreleased material featuring Aaliyah would "never work." Brown and Drake were certainly not the only artists to perform with Aaliyah as part of the project, but they were the only two mentioned by name by Timbaland. The producer did some damage control, noting later in the video that he liked other stuff by Drake, but Brown didn't get the same treatment. The Twitter apology was meant to clear the air with Brown.

Timbaland emphasized that he wasn't a fan of featuring Aaliyah, and artist he had worked with before her death, and that's why he made his comments, versus out of disrespect for Brown or other performers involved.

"I have mad luv 4 my dude @chrisbrown," he typed. "A mother lost a daughter. a brother lost a sister. that is still grieving over her passing. it just a very sensitive subject. I just want the family to be respected."
