Cops were called to an early screening of One Direction's '1D: This Is Us' at the grove of Los Angeles after overzealous One Direction fans stormed the theater.
The special event was a first come, first served showing that was scheduled to begin at 10AM for the first 100 fans to get in. After the first 100 fans were allowed in, who admitted to being at the theater since 3:45AM, craziness ensued after the rest were turned away.
Once the 100 fans were seated, there were still seats available in the auditorium, which triggered the fans who were waiting outside. Popcrush reports that a movie theater usher told the lucky audience to sit tight and stay calm, while warning that the crowd outside may try to run into the theater. Cops were called and other employees were brought in to deal with the angered fans and parents.
"They charged and went straight past the ticket takers for the doors of the actual theater screaming, 'Let us in! Let us in!'" a witness told The Los Angeles Times. "It took about a half an hour before a police car came with two policemen in it. They started palming kids down and shoving them outside."
A witness who did not make it into the screening stated,
"When I got inside, the red ropes that block the entrance to the theater were on the floor. It was pretty scary because people were tripping on the floor and pushing and stuff like that."
E! News reports that it may have been more calm than people are letting on. A source explained,
"Security was able to stop anyone from entering. It was a non-incident. The screening carried on as planned."
