Kings Of Leon have been riding the buzz off their summery single "Supersoaker" for a while, but today they decided to drop a double whammy of new material in support of their upcoming album Mechanical Bull, the back-to-basics mid-tempo yearner "Wait For Me."
Over a riff that sounds like "Twilight Zone" run through a blue filter, Caleb Followhill is given room to prove -in spite of all the brothers fighting to the contrary- that his raspy, pleading voice is the main draw for Kings. (As a straight male, I can say that Caleb Followhill is not an attractive man, but I would make sweet, sweet love to his voice if that were possible).
"It's all better now / It's all better now / Wait for me," Caleb croons on a bummed out track that almost makes you forget the poolside vibes of their last single (it will be interesting to see how they place these two tracks on Mechanical Bull).
Overall, "Wait for Me" comes off as a nice-enough track but still a distant second in the "best songs imploring you to wait" category.
Mechanical Bull drops September 24.
