Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams recently sent Fox News correspondent Sean Hannity an angry Twitter message that has since been deleted. The host decided to respond to the "Love is Hell" singer on his show "Hannity" last night, calling Adams a "gutless little coward" and also insulting his music by saying he "isn't that popular anyway."
Adams, who is married to Mandy Moore, tweeted, ".@SeanHannity Your entire soul is controlled by fear and by hate. Evolve little chicken man. See reality." The post has since been deleted, but Hannity still responded on his show with the following message:
"He is the latest liberal entertainer to launch an outrageous Twitter tirade against yours truly. Singer-songwriter - by the way, you probably don't know him, he's not that popular - Ryan Adams...We reached out to Mr. Adams, we invited him on the show for a comment. His little agent replied, because he was too chicken, in an email, 'Ryan's statement is is tweet and vice versa'...Why don't you have the courage to come on the show and defend yourself? He called me a 'terrorist'...If we wanted to torture terrorists, we can play his music, which isn't that popular anyway...Come on the program, stop being a wimp, he's hiding behind his rock star makeup like the gutless little coward that he is."
Hannity also had his guest for the night, Miss Oklahoma Anna-Marie Costello, comment on the subject for some reason. She proclaimed: "He's nearly a 40 year old man, 40 is the new 15...He has no sense of integrity."
It is hard to take sides on this story. Adams clearly should have stood behind what he said and appeared on the show, but Hannity making a big deal over a musician he called "not that popular" on air was not a great move either.
What is your take on this situation?
