How I Met Your Mother SPOILERS: Cobie Smulders Talks Season 9, Possible Robin Sparkles Appearance?

The Season 9 premiere of "How I Met Your Mother" is fast approaching and fans are eagerly anticipating the final season.

IGN caught up with Cobie Smulders, who portrays Robin Scherbatsky, and got her thoughts on Season 9:

"This season obviously has a very different framework, the way you're telling the story over the course of one weekend. The show has gone back and forth in time a lot. Is this different for you guys just knowing that it's going to take place over this very truncated period of time?

Yeah, it is. It's very different, but it's also great. It feels like a completely different vibe. It's nice to switch it up and we're not just sitting in a bar. I mean, there are scenes where we're going to be sitting in the bar, but it kind of makes it feel slightly different. But all the players are there, so it just feels like, 'Oh, things are changing, and that's okay!'

What do you think her frame of mind is going into this wedding as this season begins? Is she already completely rattled, or is it slowly creeping up on her?

You know, sitcoms don't have a lot of time. They don't give you a lot of time for a lot of 'This is happening, but this is also happening.' It's like, 'Make 'em laugh!' I feel like the beginning, she's like, 'This wedding is happening.' I think that there's this stress of the wedding happening, and it's enough to create stress. But I don't know, things are definitely weird between her and Ted. They haven't seen each other, so we shot a few scenes where they finally saw each other. There's definitely a lot of tension between them. But it's also like, they've all been friends for so long that it's par for the course. She dated Ted, then she dated Barney, she's kind of back to Ted for a second, and then -- you know, there's a lot going on. But I don't know what's going to happen at the actual wedding."

Smulders also said that Robin Sparkles would "have to come back in some way" but she wasn't sure how.

The special hour-long Season 9 premiere of HIMYM airs Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
