Those hoping that Richard Castle or Captain Reynolds would don the outfit of the Caped Crusader are out of luck.
Fillion's name has been floated as one of the (very numerous) possibilities to succeed Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 2015 Batman/Superman movie that will serve as the sequel to Man of Steel.
Fillion told EW that he doesn't think he could pull off the role, particularly with the trademark gravelly voice that Bale made famous.
"I wonder if my throat could take it," Fillion said. "I think I'd make an excellent Bruce Wayne; I think I'd make a terrible Batman."
Fillion recently voiced the Green Lantern in the DC Animated movie Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, so he has some experience with superhero films. But the actor also warned against fans' getting too attached to a particular actor for the part of Batman.
"If you wanted to see a particular person as Batman, I think one of the worst things you could do is shove it down someone's throat as far as the new director of Batman or the new producers of Batman," Fillion said. "Probably the worst thing you could do if there's someone you want to be Batman is sort of rally."
Other names connected to the Batman role include Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Fillion has worked with Joss Whedon many times in the past on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly." If only Batman were a part of Whedon's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
