After weeks of anticipation and performance announcements, the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards finally take place tonight at 9 p.m. EST on MTV. The 29th annual award show will honor the year's best in music videos, with nominees including Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Bruno Mars, among every other big name in popular music.
Officially announced performance will take place from Lady Gaga ("Applause"), Kanye West ("Black Skinhead"), Katy Perry ("Roar"), Drake ("Started From The Bottom"), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ("Same Love"), Bruno Mars ("Gorilla), Miley Cyrus (unknown song), Justin Timberlake (unknown song) and Robin Thicke (unknown song). Rumors are swirling around the Internet that Daft Punk and 'NSYNC will also perform at the VMAs.

The 2013 VMAs will begin at 8 p.m. EST with a pre-show, which will feature performances from Ariana Grande and Austin Mahone, as well as celebrity red carpet interviews.
The night is sure to be chock full of stellar performances and big, shocking moments, as the VMAs are apt to do. Fans lucky enough to have cable can watch them on their sets. The live stream is running all day Aug. 25, so fans can watch the preparations as Brooklyn's Barclays Center turns into a den of celebrity appearances and bumping musical performances.
