Katy Perry 'Prism': 'Roar' Singer Explains New Album Title [VIDEO]

Katy Perry's upcomiing album Prism has looked to be a dark affair from the beginning. She promoed the album with teaser trailers that showed her quite literally burning her previous efforts. Given the obvious imagery and the fact that Katy did say once that Prism was going to be a heavy ordeal, fans have been expecting a brooding release from the pop chanteuse. 

However, the "Roar" singer is backing off that expectation now. She explained that the title of Prism means just the opposite, she is letting the light back in after her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.

"The reason why I called this record Prism is because I actually finally let the light in and then I was able to create all these songs that were inspired by letting the light in and doing some self-reflection and just kind of working on myself," she said.
