It's been almost a month since fans first heard Katy Perry's first "Prism" single, "Roar." Since then, the song has risen to No. 1 in the country without the help of a music video. Today (Sept. 5), however, that all changes. The official visual for "Roar" premiered on VEVO and YouTube at 4 p.m. It shows Perry exploring the jungle and adapting to the wild life.
The clip begins with a plane crash that leaves Perry and her significant other (not John Mayer) stranded on a deserted island. Following the lyrics of the song, wherein Perry is a pushover before discovering her true self, she's left to handle all the grunt work for the couple, until her boo gets attacked (and, presumably, killed) by a rogue tiger.
Perry then adapts to life in the jungle, befriending once angry animals, eventually brushing an alligator's teeth, painting an elephant's toenails and taking selfies with a monkey (on her Nokia phone, nonetheless, holla product placement!).
In the middle of all of this, Perry finds her own inner strength in the form of a spirit animal, which is a tiger, of course. She eventually battles the beast who killed her significant owner, taming him to become her pet (Kitty Purry) and, thus, making Perry the queen of the jungle.

"Roar" is the first single from Perry's third studio album "Prism." After being held off by Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" for two weeks, "Roar" finally rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
