Better Call Saul!
Those three words not only makeup one of the most recognizable phrases from "Breaking Bad," they also serve as the name of the newly announced spinoff series that will focus on everyone's favorite criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman.
AMC and Sony Pictures announced Wednesday that they have reached an agreement to produce a "Breaking Bad" prequel about Saul. The idea of the spinoff has been floated for months but AMC has finally made it official.
The show will not undergo the usual pilot treatment and will instead go straight to a full-fledged series.
According to TVLine, the hour-long show "will focus on the evolution" of Goodman's character before he ever crosses paths with Walter White/Heisenberg.
It's unclear at this point during what time period the new series will take place. Bob Odenkirk plays the character on "Breaking Bad," but the network could opt to go with a younger actor to portray Saul if it decides to go back far enough in time.
As MStars previously reported, Lavell Crawford, who plays Saul's bodyguard Huell on "Breaking Bad," said the following to Rolling Stone about a possible spinoff:
Have you heard anything about the Saul Goodman spinoff? Bob Odenkirk told me that even he hasn't. Would you be up for it?
I heard about it on Twitter, but Vince [Gilligan] didn't say nothing to me, so I don't know. It would be fun, but I haven't talked to anybody about that. I'm not even keeping a secret - that's the truth.
It's tough to imagine Saul without his "A-Team."
That's what I'm saying. If they wanna do it, I'm game. I'd love to see what his mind would come up with. A sleazy Matlock, shaking down congressmen or something? That would be hilarious.
