Miley Cyrus is on the cover of October's issue of "Harper's Bazaar." While the "Wrecking Ball" singer is ushering in a new era for her music, style and life. In order to promote "Bangerz," her highly anticipated fourth studio album, she gave journalist Derek Blasberg a look into her life.
Here are five things that we learned about "Bangerz"-era Miley Cyrus in her "Haper's Bazaar" profile.
5. She's Not Obsessed with Being Rich or Famous
Because she always has been. Obviously, everyone knows that Miley's father is none other than "Achy Breaky Heart" singer Billy Ray Cyrus, so the 20-year-old is no stranger to having money or being a household name. "My parents always had money, and I've always been around this industry, so I didn't have my mind blown or become obsessed with being famous," she told the magazine.
4. She is Taking a Break from Feature Films, TV
"I don't really care to do anything acting-wise. I want to make all of my music videos so epic that it feels like I'm still involved with acting," said Cyrus. Though she got her start by acting in the Tim Burton film "Big Fish" in 2003 and has since acted regularly in "Hannah Montana" and a variety of films and TV shows, Cyrus is now focused solely on her big musical comeback.
3. She Doesn't Understand Public Breakdowns, Justin Bieber or Lindsay Lohan
Cyrus had some choice words to say about public breakdowns and DUIs (which she does not get), semi-retiring (which she did, in 2011) and some of pop culture's more controversial figures. On Bieber: "I'm not saying you need to take a break because you're crazy. I'm saying you need to take a break so you can be crazy, and people aren't going to judge you." On Lohan: "The other day I saw that Lindsay Lohan was getting rid of, like, 80 of her friends because she wants to cut out toxic people. I'm like, 'Honey, you're going to have to move out of this unverse because everywhere you go there are toxic people.'" And on celebrity DUIs: "Why don't they just get a driver?"
2. She's Going to Get Married... Someday. To Someone.
Though she notably refused to talk about her relationship with on-again, off-again fiancé Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus did not that she wanted to tie the knot with some lucky guy, one day in the future, when she's less busy. "I definitely don't have time to deal with a wedding right now. But I will at some point," she said.
Lately, their relationship has been notably rockier. Over the weekend, Cyrus unfollowed Hemsworth on Twitter.
1. Miley is in Complete Control
Nobody is the boss of Miley Cyrus in 2013. Journalist Derek Blasberg noted that she brought along her own "kit" full of accessories because "What if I get to a photo shoot and the stylist just sucks?" She also gave her label, RCA, ideas for her new music and told them that if it fails, she'll then be their puppet.
It seems like Cyrus knows what she's doing, however. "We Can't Stop" peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 2, and her second "Bangerz" single "Wrecking Ball" is aiming for No. 1 this week. Both of her new music videos have gone highly viral, racking up tens of millions of hits in days.
