One of the bigger pieces of news surrounding J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII is whether or not the original trilogy actors will reprise their roles. Carrie Fisher has hinted that she could be returning as Leia and Harrison Ford has been keeping quiet about his Han Solo reprisal. Now a new update reveals that Mark Hamill is apparently starting some training in order to get in shape for his Luke Skywalker reprisal!
Robert Englund (the actor who portrayed Freddie Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series) is a close friend of Hamill, so he knows the former Jedi's schedule pretty well. In a new interview, Englund revealed Hamill had been spending a lot of time in the gym.
"Mark now - they've got Mark in the gym," Englund said. "Because Mark's coming back as Luke Skywalker. They've got him doing his sit ups."
This cut-and-dry statement is sure to get plenty of fans excited for Hamill's return to the franchise, but the casting has not been confirmed as of yet.
Do you think Englund is telling the truth?
Jonathan Rhys Meyers was the first actor rumored to be cast in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII film, hitting theaters in 2015. The "Tudors" star worked with the film's director J.J. Abrams before (Mission: Impossible 3) so these claims were very plausible at the time. Since then, we haven't heard much about Rhys Meyers' role in the film, but the actor recently addressed the casting rumors in a new interview!
"Look, I've worked with J.J.," he said. "But I don't believe rumors."
This response is a bit vague, don't you think? It is definitely not a clear "yes" or "no," so maybe we shouldn't consider him out of the running just yet.
