The Terminator and the aliens are going head-to-head.

Screen Rant reports that Paramount Pictures has pushed the premiere of Terminator 5 (which is not yet an official title) back from the last Friday in June 2015 to July 1, 2015 so that the film can compete directly with Roland Emmerich's anticipated sequel Independence Day 2 (which could be called ID2 or ID Forever).

Terminator 5 has been in the works for nearly three years since Annapurna Pictures leader Megan Ellison (famous for Zero Dark Thirty) bought the rights to the franchise until 2019, at which point they will return to creator James Cameron. Screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier joined the project in early 2013, while Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, "Game of Thrones") took over as director about two weeks ago. Filming is set to begin in early 2014.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is now 66 years old, will be back for Terminator 5 and various reports have pegged Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a younger actor to play a new breed of robot developed by Skynet to wreak havoc in the movie.

The film will also start a new stand-alone trilogy.

The Summer 2015 film schedule is shaping up to feature some of the biggest and most anticipated blockbuster movies ever, particularly for comic book fans and the like. On the docket so for are Batman vs. Superman (also known as Man of Steel 2), The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World (also known as Jurassic Park 4), Terminator 5 and Indepdence Day 2.
