As we covered pretty extensively earlier this year, Rick Ross was dropped (or was he?) from his Reebok sponsorship due to pressure from women's advocacy groups after Ross appeared to rap about date rape during his guest verse on Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O." (Even Rocko caved to the pressure, re-releasing the track sans Ross' verse). However, Ross doesn't seem to have any hard feelings toward the sneaker company. Here admitted that he still rocks their shoes in an interview with the Associated Press.
"I'm still supporting Reebok. I'm still wearing Reebok," Ross said. "It's nothing more than that. I've been wearing Reebok my whole life. ...Still got nothing but love for Reebok."
Ross also detailed what the controversy was like from his point of view in the Self Made Vol. 3-hyping interview.
"You live and you learn. I think the most unfortunate thing about the whole situation was just the fact that my lyrics offended some ladies, especially dealing with the topic of rape," Ross said, before quickly making clear that he never intended the lyrics to read that way. "It was interpreted as rape."
Ross offered possibly his second-most sincere apology to date.
"I really wanted to make sure that I apologize to any woman that I offended in that way. I just wanted to make that clear. When I make music and I'm talking on records, it's like I'm painting a picture. In my mind, I'm seeing a film. I apologize."
