Billie Joe Armstrong Lands First Major Acting Gig, Green Day Rocker to Star in Indie Flick 'Like Rain'

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong has landed his biggest role to date alongside Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester in upcoming indie flick Like Sunday, Like Rain (maybe he'll have some time to reflect on whether or not he should make another album).

The film comes from actor/director Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction, Ray Donovan) and tells the story of a struggling musician, played by Meester, who becomes the guardian of a 12-year-old music prodigy. Armstrong will play Meester's boyfriend in the movie.

Filming for Like Sunday, Like Rain is underway in New York

Armstrong also stars in two documentaries dropping later this year. There's ¡Cuatro!, which covers the band as they made their latest release: the album trilogy of ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!  and Broadway Idiot, which follows the effort to turn their gargantuan hit album American Idiot into a successful Broadway musical.
