"Glee" season five seems like it will be off to a strong start, with two Beatles-themed episodes and guest runs from Demi Lovato and Adam Lambert to kick off the show's newest chapter. However, the most highly anticipated part of "Glee's" new season will be episode three, "The Quarterback," better known as the tribute to deceased cast member, Cory Monteith.
Now, new details about the big musical number for "The Quarterback" have leaked online. According to OK Magazine (Via Hollywood Life), the big, touching song for the episode will be the heart wrenching "RENT" number, "Seasons of Love." Apparently, the entire cast will join together for the tribute song, including season one cast members who have since left the show.
It's also been reported that cast members Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Santana (Naya Rivera) will play integral parts in the episode, with solo tribute songs.
Monteith's real life and on-screen girlfriend Lea Michele (Rachel) will not appear until the final scene of the episode, where she will sing a "limited but incredibly powerful" song.
Though the show was originally going to tackle Monteith's death head-on, creator Ryan Murphy has since pulled back on those plans. Instead, the episode will be a tribute to the best parts of Monteith and his character, the jock Finn Hudson. The episode is sure to be a tearjerker. Cast member Jane Lynch called "The Quarterback" script "beautiful" in a recent tweet.
Monteith died on July 13 in Vancouver, Canada from an overdose of heroin and alcohol. He was 31 years old.
"The Quarterback" will air on FOX Oct. 10. Following that episode, "Glee" will go on hiatus for several weeks and return Nov. 7.
