A new rumor involving Zac Efron's recently publicized drug abuse problems has come up and it is a scary one. According to some sources, the High School Musical star was partying in New York City back in January and ended overdosing on heroin and other drugs.

"I was scared for himm" one partygoer said. "If he doesn't clean himself up, he'll be Hollywood's next big drug tragedy."

According to the insiders who witnessed Efron's partying, the actor was mixing substances like oxycodone, Adderall and weed.

"If he didn't have such a need for the oxy, I don't think he would have let us come into the room," the source added. "He was like a junkie. He wanted the drugs so bad, and this was the only way he could get them."

What do you think of these new rumors? If they are true, Zac has checked into rehab for such issues so he looks to be on the right track to recovery.

Mstars recently reported on the news of Efron entering rehab. Here is an excerpt:

Efron stars in Seth Rogan's new comedy "Neighbors" which hits theaters in May 2014. While filming the movie back in April, Efron began partying a little too hard. Things allegedly spiraled out-of-control during this narrow on-set time-frame.

Apparently, Efron was a no-show during several shoots. He was off doing drugs - primarily cocaine and Molly (a pure form of Ecstasy, a popular club/rave drug). OneTMZ source reveals, "It was common knowledge he was struggling with cocaine."

Several other sources also confirm Efron's dangerous drug use.
