Lostprophets Break Up: 'Last Train Home' Band Announce Split Following Singer Ian Watkins' Sexual Offense Charges in Facebook Statement [VIDEO]

Rock band Lostprophets have announced they are breaking up after 15 years together. The news of the split comes in the wake of lead singer Ian Watkins' arrest in December 2012 for over 20 sexual offense charges, including raping a baby and making indecent images.

In an Oct. 1 statement on their Facebook page, five of the six band members wrote the following:

"To our fans:

After nearly a year of coming to terms with our heartache, we finally feel ready to announce publicly what we have thought privately for some time. We can no longer continue making or performing music as Lostprophets. Your love and support over the past 15 years has been tremendous, and we'll be forever grateful for all you've given us. As we look forward to the next phase of our lives, we can only hope to be surrounded by people as devoted and inspiring as you guys have been.

Watkins is currently in jail awaiting a trial date of Nov. 25, according to NME. In August, the frontman was put on suicide watch ahead of his hearing. He denies all his charges for sexual abuse.

Lostprophets formed in 1997 in their hometown of Pontypridd, Wales. They experienced great success in their home country of the UK. In the United States, they are best known for their 2004 single "Last Train Home" and their 2006 single "Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)."

Their last album, "Weapons" was released in April 2012.
