The Civil Wars may be on a permanent hiatus, but that hasn't stopped the powers that be from scrapping together old video footage to push a new music video and single. Today (Oct. 3), The Civil Wars' new music video for "Dust to Dust" was released on VEVO.
The largely colorless clip shows John Paul White and Joy Williams separately in Paris. They two remain largely separated in the video. White sits in a café, writing a letter he will never send and drinking coffee. Meanwhile, Williams drinks wine alone in a swanky bar.
The two end up at the same old-fashioned bookstore and eventually come together to perform by the river and wander the Parisian sites and streets. Between the scenes of Williams and White in Paris, studio footage from the recording of "The Civil Wars" is used to fill out the video and tie the love storyline together.
According to Rolling Stone, the scenes for "Dust to Dust" were shot in March 2011 and on tour supporting their first album "Barton Hollow."

"Dust to Dust" is the second music video for what is likely the last musical effort from The Civil Wars. Following inner tension in the folk duo, the band went on hiatus, citing "internal discord and irreconcilable differences."
