One of the issues coming out of this government shutdown that's going on is the closure of national parks and monuments. That said, these locations are prime real estate for wedding ceremonies, meaning some unfortunate couples cannot tie the knot as long as this shutdown persists. Luckily for one couple, Stephen Colbert of Comedy Centrals The Colbert Report would not stand idly by. He performed a wedding on his show!

For a little background on the situation, DNC Parks and Resorts at Yosemite spokeswoman Lisa Cesaro recently explained how this government shutdown will affect a number of weddings planned to be held at national monuments this month.

"We do have some weddings for the coming week, so we're on standby. We have a contingency plan in the works," Cesaro said. "It's really unfortunate. This is not a situation you'd want to be in as a bride, but we're optimistic. We'll just have to wait and see. If it happens, we'll work around it and do our best to accommodate everyone."

The ordained Colbert married Mike Cassesso and MaiLien Le this week on The Colbert Report, which was dubbed "The 2013 Government Shutdown Wedding of the Century" by the eccentric host.

Check out some clips from The Colbert Report of the Cassesso/Le wedding and see how Colbert handled the government shutdown-inspired wedding ceremony:
