24 is coming back in a 12-episode series entitled 24: Live Another Day. According to new reports, the show will return in May of 2014 and will take place in London, England, to welcome us back into the series. This is clearly different territory for Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), but this return to the story is hoping to keep the excitement of the original series going.
Sutherland was recently quoted in Entertainment Weekly:
"24 has always had such a global sensibility. But to be able to tell this intense 24 -style story with the beauty of Europe's history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you're finished watching an episode, you'll feel like you've been there...on the edge of your seat."
Described as an "event series," this 12-epsiode arc will take place four years after Bauer's last adventure with Counter Terrorism Unit. Though the episode count is half of what fans are used to, this new series will stay in real-time like the original storyline.
"We wanted the show's return to be an event," co-showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz said. "And part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we're going to pick him up four years later in London."
According to Slashfilm, "Mary Lynn Rajskub has signed on to reprise her role while other recurring characters - such as love interest Audrey played by Kim Raver - are still in negotiations."
Are you excited for this series to return? The London scenes were shot back in January, but there is still plenty of time before May 2014 for more updates and spoilers!
