According to a One Direction insider, Harry Styles is hoping to get a seat on Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic voyage. The One Direction hunk is so set on traveling into space that he put down a £150,000 ($241050) bid for a ticket. Harry isn't the first pop singer to try to hold down a seat on the maiden voyage of Virgin Galactic: Justin Bieber recently spoke about getting on board, too.
"Harry heard about the voyage a while ago but something triggered his interest in the past few weeks," the insider explained. "He's got no idea if it's realistic with it being so close - with his obligations to the band - but he's willing to move things around to make it happen."
Styles and his One Direction bandmates just recently announced their new album, Midnight Memories, coming out on November 25, followed by their 2014 "Where We Are" world stadium tour. So yes, Harry is very busy.
"Unfortunately for Harry you need more than money to get a seat at this point as it's already so late in the game," the insider continued.
But Harry might have an edge consider he is quite close with Simon Cowell who has some pull in this situation.
"If anyone has the contacts to make it happen it's Simon," the source said. "Harry is happy to fork out the cash for it - he's loaded. He just needs Simon to help him seal the deal."
"The rest of the guys aren't too fussed. It's a lot of money and they would rather spend it on other things," the source said of Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. "But they're happy for Harry and hope he gets his dream."
So far there have been 580 people who have paid around £44 million (around $70 million) in deposits to go on the list for Virgin Galactic's maiden voyage.
