New York Comic-Con 2013 kicked into high gear on Friday as celebrities and colorfully costumed characters descended on the Jacob Javits Center for day two of the event.
Friday's lineup was chock full of great panels including Game of Thrones, True Blood, Felicia Day and Geek & Sundry, and Falling Skies. Celebrities including Gillian Anderson and Candace Bailey signed autographs for hundreds of eager fans.
Characters from hundreds of genres and franchises packed the Javits Center, and "packed" is the only word to describe the convention floor. Dozens of Ash Ketchums and Captain Americas weaved their way through the crowds. Super Mario stopped Cloud Strife to get a picture. Walter White stood next to a creeper from Minecraft. If you can think of a franchise that belonged at Comic-Con, chances are at least one intrepid attendee was dressed up as a character from that franchise.
The panels and screenings were held on the bottom floor of the building and fans filled up the snake-like lines as early as possible. The autograph lines, too, stretched as far as the eye could see, but for the most part, everything ran smoothly.
The main floor of the Javits Center was filled with exhibitions and thousands upon thousands of items for sale. One booth contained thousands of Marvel and DC comics from as far back as the 1950s, while another sold dozens of Dragonball Z items, including a Saiyan scouter.
That area also contained multiple video game demos, including Sonic Lost World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, and Super Mario 3D World. One section featured Starcraft II competitive play.
The Walking Dead panel will likely be the highlight of New York Comic-Con 2013 this weekend, but Friday offered plenty for fans to enjoy. Be sure to check out the photos at the top for some of the best costumes we spotted throughout the day.
