Justin Bieber has released the second song as a part of his Music Mondays project and the follow-up to "Heartbreaker." "All That Matters" debuted online late last night (Oct. 13), following the trend of "Heartbreaker," the song hit the web slightly before its midnight due time.
"All That Matters" follows the precedent set by "Heartbreaker" in several ways. Most notably, the track features similar stripped down instrumentation and the same mature, R&B influenced sound. "All That Matters" has a slower start than its predecessor , featuring guitars and a burning beat.
Once again, the lyrical content of Bieber's music is what is highlighted in the Music Mondays project. Bieber took to his official website to write a short entry about the song and what it means, helping to complete the music journals portion of the project.
"The lyrics of this song are pretty self explanatory -- when you fall in love with someone, that someone can make you feel whole," he wrote. "I feel like anyone who has been in love knows what I mean. The song conveys that being in love is one of the greatest feelings on Earth. Love is all that matters. But the void you feel when that love goes away is gut wrenching. I worked so hard on this song in the studio -- trying to put that feeling into music was extremely important to me. I'm happy to share it with you.
Thus, even the themes of the song are similar, and rumor is this track is also about his "Stars Dance" ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. "What's a king bed without a queen," Bieber croons emotively in the chorus, eliciting the true feelings of heartbreak that even "Heartbreaker" could not reach.
