Trey Parker, Matt Stone and the rest of their South Park team produce each new episode within a week, making their shows very topical and fresh every Wednesday evening on Comedy Central. This means that many of these episodes are delivered last minute. They have been doing this for 17 seasons without ever missing an episode delivery. This streak unfortunately came to an end this week, thanks to a power outage.

Again, these episodes are usually delivered last minute, so pretty much any week could have ended up like this one. After 17 seasons, a three-hour power outage was the cause of the first show in the history of South Park to not make it to air due to delivery.

"It sucks to miss an airdate, but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen," Parker said.

Comedy Central released this official statement on the situation:

"On Tuesday night, South Park Studios lost power. From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours, and they were unable to finish episode 1704 Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers in time for air tonight."

The good news is that "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Poser" will air next week, December 23. This week Comedy Central ran an encore presentation of South Park's episode "Scott Tenorman Must Die," complete with a live-tweeting session from the show's official Twitter account.

Do you think this could happen again?
