What do Kanye West and Drake have in common? Besides two of the most highly anticipated rap albums of the year, the two artists both have a penchant for postponing tour dates at the very last minute. The second tour date of West's Yeezus Tour was postponed at the very last minute last night (Oct. 20) with no explanation.
The scheduled Vancouver tour stop was inexplicably moved back 11 days, and West will return to the city on Halloween (Oct. 31), according to Rogers Arena's Twitter. "Tonight's @KanyeWest show has been postponed to October 31st. #YeezusTour," the venue announced unremarkably.
The announcement, made at 2:26 p.m. PST, was done with such little fanfare that excited Kanye fans thought the account had been hacked. ".@RogersArena's TWITTER WAS HACKED. THE CONCERT IS NOT CANCELLED," hoped @FRNKSHW. However, that was not the case. Other fans on the Rogers Arena Twitter page complained of money spent and travel time, which included days off work.
Fortunately for fans that can make the Oct. 31 show, all original tickets will be honored for the new date.
The postponed Vancouver show isn't the only clunk on West's Yeezus Tour. The opening date in Seattle on Oct. 19 started two hours late due to the intricate stage set up, which includes a massive mountain scene.
Though no official reason was given for the postponed show, reports from the Vancouver Sun say that the stage set up is a "logistical nightmare" for the stage crew and nearly impossible to tear down and set up in a new city in less than a day. Other Twitter rumors say an equipment truck was stolen in Seattle.
Regardless, the shows must go on. The Yeezus Tour will continue tomorrow (Oct. 22) in San Jose, California.
