In a new interview with We Love Pop, One Direction heartthrob Liam Payne opened up about how he had to deal with bullies when he was in school. Just like many celebrities, Liam relates to those dealing with bullying currently and explains how he got through the ordeal. One Direction is just one of many pop music acts that has campaigned for anti-bullying foundations.
Liam explained how he had to deal with his bullying problems after attempting to get some help from his teachers and parents.
"When I was at school I was bullied by a few people who were much older than me," he said. "I was in year eight and they were sixth-formers. I went and told my parents and my teachers, but it didn't stop so I had to sort it out myself."
The "Story of My Life" singer added: "I went to camp to learn how to box, and it gave me the confidence to know that if I needed to, I could fight back and I could stand up to anyone. Then I got this guy I knew, who was in his early twenties, to pretend to be my big brother and pick me up from school. And as soon as they saw him it suddenly stopped."
Liam and his bandmates made some anti-bullying promos (partnered with Office Depot) earlier this year. Check out Liam's message to his fans, featuring the singer talking about bullying:
