PBS' Blank on Blank YouTube series has quickly become one of the most fascinating interview features to hit the Internet. In these videos, lost interviews that have since been found (duh) are shared, accompanied by some animation in order to create the video experience for viewers. In the most recent Blank on Blank installments, a lost cassette tape featuring an interview with Kurt Cobain is shared. In this newly found cassette, we get a deeper look into the mind of Nirvana's songwriter as he opens up about his childhood and his sexuality.
One key point to take away from this interview is that Cobain felt isolated in his childhood, thus leading to the sound and subject material of his music. In this interview explained:
"You know, I felt so different and so crazy that people just left me alone. I always felt that they would vote me 'Most likely to kill everyone at a high school dance.'"
Kurt also opened up about his sexuality, explaining that he figured he was gay just from how he was feeling when growing up.
"I even thought that I was gay," Cobain explained in this recently recovered interview. "I thought that might be the solution to my problem."
Take a listen to this great interview and enjoy the animation accompanying it right here:
