Against Me! have finally announced the release date and full tracklisting for their sixth studio album, Gender Dysphoria Blues. According to Rolling Stone, the rock band's new effort will be released January 21, 2014.
The release of Gender Dysphoria Blues is notable not just because it's Against Me!'s first studio release in three-and-a-half years (White Crosses was released in June 2010) but also because it is the first effort in full from the band since lead singer Laura Jane Grace came out as transgender in an interview with Rolling Stone last year. The frontwoman is currently in transition from man to woman.
From the album title and select song titles, it seems as though Gender Dysphoria Blues will highlight Grace's journey with gender dysphoria and her new life. In addition to a release date, Against Me! also unveiled the 10-song tracklist today (Oct. 24).
Fans will be familiar with some of the material on the album. In a recent solo tour, Grace played the title track "Gender Dysphoria Blues" as a part of her set. Moreover, short EPs True Trans, were distributed last year with "FUCKMYLIFE666" and "True Trans Soul Rebel."
