There are at least two very mainly men with facial hair on television these days. First we have Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman, and then we have the Dos Equis commercial actor who portrays the "most interesting man in the world. There are definitely fans of each character, but are they fans of each other? In short: no. Check out what Nick Offerman had to say about the supposed "most interesting man in the world" when appearing on the Nerdist podcast with Chris Hardwick.
Clearly Hardwick had a lot of questions for the monotonic Offerman, but one of the more quotable moments from this podcast came when Dos Equis was brought up.
Asking Offerman if he'd ever become a spokesperson for a product or a few, the Parks and Recreation funnyman responded: "It's funny, but I think that advertising companies often look at things like Nielsen ratings."
The jokester was then asked about this Dos Equis character.
Hardwick asked: "You know the Dos Equis Guy, the Most Interesting Man in the World character? They've engineered this guy, this fake guy, with all these fake things ... it's really, you're the soul of that guy."
Offerman then offered up his response, which ended up being a brutal takedown of the commercial character.
"I try not to take umbrage when I hear this sort of thin tapestry they're trying to weave in that ad campaign," he said. "But I do like to think that the Dos Equis guy maybe would shine my shoes. Or I would drop my car off for him to detail. He'd do a fine job. He'd look into my rear-view mirror and mutter things to himself like, 'Someday, you will drive a car like this. If you can step up into a more delicious cerveza.'"
Offerman added: "Dos Equis is a perfectly delicious beer. But there are others."
