Eminem's new MMLP2 hit "Rap God" hit airwaves earlier this month - and according to Slim Shady, producer DVLP managed to create one of the "illest beats" ever heard. Do Mstars fans agree?
Here's Shady's rather controversial new song "Rap God" -
And here's what DVLP told MTV News about co-producing the viral rap track with partner Filthy:
"I was just trying to do whatever makes me happy. I never really make tracks with artists in mind..."
Eventually, "Rap God" fell into the right hands:
"Before it got to Em, it was talked about for like T.I. - I don't know who else, maybe Fab or something. Even when they said those names, it was like, that's not really where I hear this record going. It's not that kind of record... Thankfully everything worked out where it made its way over to the Shady side."
"Rap God" was released on October 14. Now, it's no. 1 on Billboard's Digital Songs chart.
According to DVLP, he was sick with the flu when "Rap God" finally hit Youtube. But he received a rather awesome phone call from the Real Slim Shady that helped to brighten his day...
"I still didn't even hear the record, so I don't know how that looks to Marshall, but he was like, 'Dude, how's it going? Thank you so much'... I heard it, then I had to hear it again, and I had to hear it again and again and then I called back. He was like, 'Dude, I swear this is one of the illest beats I've ever heard.' That alone, my knees got weak. It wasn't the flu, it was definitely that guy."
Pretty awesome compliment. Check out the full MTV News interview here:
