After weeks of speculation and a lot of silence from the Jonas Brothers, what seems to have been inevitable has been confirmed: the band has broken up.
The three brothers, Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas announced the end of the Jonas Brothers today (Oct. 29) to People, at least for quite some time. "It's over for now," said Kevin. "It's really hard to say 'forever.' We're closing a chapter, for sure," said Nick. "It was a unanimous decision," said Joe.
The cause of the end of the Jonas Brothers? According to Nick, he was "feeling kind of trapped" musically with his old band, who were once a part of the Disney empire. In a meeting on Oct. 3, Nick confessed his feelings, saying "I needed to share my heart with my brothers."
Rumors swirled about many different reasons for the "deep rift," including drug use from Joe Jonas, a dislike of Kevin's pregnant wife Danielle and diva behavior from Nick. However, it seems like things were far less dramatic than that.
The official announcement of the Jonas Brothers' end follows the last-minute cancellation of their planned October tour. On Oct. 9, just two days before the trek of shows was set to kick off in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the Jonas Brothers nixed the tour, citing a "deep rift" within the band to People.
Following that announcement, fans were concerned about the future of the Jonas Brothers. Fans' worries worsened when the three brothers were silent on their social media accounts and then when the official Jonas Brothers Twitter account was deleted.
More details about the Jonas Brothers break up are sure to come.
Before the band's break up, the Jonas Brothers were planning on releasing their fifth studio album V this fall. Led by singles "Pom Poms" and "First Time," it is now unknown what will happen to other tracks recorded for the album, including "Neon," "What Do I Mean To You?" and "Sandbox."
