It may be the scariest day of the year, but that doesn't mean your children have to have an unexpected fright while trick-or-treating this Halloween. And NBC's Parks and Recreation wants to make sure that the kids of Pawnee, Ind., know proper candy safety. In a new PSA from the hit sitcom, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) teamed up with Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) and the always life ruining Jerry Gergich (Jim O'Heir) to warn about accepting candy from strangers.

The hilarious 2-minute, 15-second clip gets off to a rocky start, in typical Pawnee style. After Tom's sketch character questions why he looks different from his mom and sister, Leslie reveals the two "siblings" have different dads, prompting some lashing out from the children.

Eventually, the trio do go trick-or-treating as Jerry hams it up, taking his role as a menacing candy giver very seriously. In the end, no real lesson was learned, but it's worth watching for a solid laugh anyway.

Unfortunately for fans of Parks and Rec, the Halloween episode for the show's sixth season has been delayed. Earlier this month, NBC announced that the show would be moved from the schedule for three weeks. Instead, NBC aired a new episode of The Voice last week, will put on a Saturday Night Live Halloween special tonight (Thursday, Oct. 31) and next Thursday will feature another live episode of The Voice.

NBC did not officially announce why Parks and Rec was bumped from the 8 p.m. time slot for three weeks, but chances are the network is trying to bring in more viewers for its two new sitcoms, Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show, which have boasted less-than-stellar ratings.

Parks and Recreation will return with two back-to-back episodes on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. The Halloween episode of the show, entitled "Recall Vote" will air then.
