It seems as though Katy Perry will continue to ride the success of her lead Prism single "Roar" for some time longer. In a press release on Contact Music, it was revealed the follow up "Unconditionally" won't officially drop until Dec. 16. Additionally, the single artwork for the love song has been unveiled.
In the stunning image, Katy can be seen lying on top a black car with an assortment of colorful flowers spread across the hood. Wearing a beige gown, Perry looks at the camera with a relatively blank gaze.
Check out the "Unconditionally" cover below.
It's an interesting, slightly morbid cover for the ballad. Perry almost appears dead in the image, perhaps signifying she'll love until her dying days? Regardless, it's a long way from her Teenage Dream era, which was full of color and pop.
Perry first set fire to her former self in promo videos released ahead of "Roar."
This isn't the first visual that Perry has released for "Unconditionally," which she teased as her favorite track of the album in an interview with MTV before the release of Prism. In October, Perry dropped an emotional lyric video for the track, featuring two models reacting to the song quite differently.
It's interesting that the official release of "Unconditionally" won't arrive for another six weeks. However, the song is already performing well. This week, the track debuted at No. 30 on the Hot 100, just three spots below earlier promotional track, the non-single "Dark Horse" (feat. Juicy J).
While those two songs battle it out in the middle of the chart, lead single "Roar" remained at No. 2 this week, following two weeks at No. 1.
