The rumors have been confirmed: Lady Gaga will host and perform on an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. The "Do What U Want" singer has been confirmed to be pulling double duty on Nov. 16, via the SNL Twitter account.
Rumors first swirled that Gaga would host and perform on Saturday Night Live this fall in September, when TV Line reported that she was in talks to appear on the sketch comedy show. Though those rumors couldn't be confirmed until closer to the inevitable episode's airdate, it was always likely she would appear on SNL in some form this season to promote her new album Artpop.
Lady Gaga's third studio effort will be released on Nov. 11, just five days before her episode of SNL will air.
This won't be Gaga's first episode of SNL. The Mother Monster has appeared on the show twice before as a musical guest, and each time she appeared briefly in sketches. Gaga first rocked the SNL stage in 2009 with "Paparazzi" and a medley of singles from her debut album The Fame. She returned in '11 with "The Edge of Glory," "Judas" and "Born This Way" from Born This Way.
Gaga isn't the only musician to pull double duty this season on SNL. On Oct. 5, Miley Cyrus dominated 30 Rock to promote her record Bangerz.
In addition to Lady Gaga, Saturday Night Live announced the host and musical guest for their Nov. 23 episode. Catching Fire actor Josh Hutcherson will host with Haim performing.
